Checked the files for this recent problem movie, reduced the length of the title from three words to one as well as the subtitle file and voila I had subtitles on the TV! Thanks. I can confirm that for me too, iTunes and Apple TV seem to have separate preferences for subtitles. Starting on the Mac and continuing on the Apple TV You can turn on subtitles or closed captions ("CC") on your Fire TV device to display the audio for movies and TV shows as text on-screen. Subtitles are not available on Fire TV Stick (1st Generation). Most content that supports subtitles includes English text, but other languages may also be available. Start playing the video. As above, old Sharp TV belonging a relative. Could be 7+ years old. Have used subtitles on this TV for years on all channels but recently the BBC ones don't work. All other Freeview channels are fine. Simple Freeview setup. Antenna split to 3 TVS the house. BBC subtitles work on other TVs I was having difficulty getting the subtitles/settings options to pop up on my Apple TV player in Chrome. I looked for an answer on this community and nothing that they suggested worked. I just tried turning off my add blocker and it worked like a charm so thought I would post so it is here for others having the same issue. Windows, Windows 10. 7reRli.
